Get inspired by examples of digital storytelling in action

This month, Europeana and the Heritage Lab are running the digital storytelling festival, encouraging people to tell stories with digital cultural heritage. Members of the Europeana Communicators Community Steering Group share examples of the stories told online and in digital formats that excite them - and can inspire you!

Four actions to take right now

Meet the steering group

Call for new Steering Group members

The Europeana Communicators Steering Group is looking for new enthusiastic members to help shape the Community, bring your own expertise into the conversation and help us manage our increasing number of activities. Read on to find out more about this voluntary role.

About the role

Steering Group members listen to the voices in our community and our sector and share their views with the Europeana Network Association. We are looking for new members who:

  • Have a passion for or experience in communicating about digital cultural heritage (including editorial or marketing experience) and an interest in social media and communication

  • Can attend and participate in our regular monthly Steering Group calls (lasting one hour), contribute to discussions and follow up on agreed actions

  • Help to deliver the activities of our annual work plans (this may include taking on responsibilities for specific areas including Task Forces) and provide input for this planning on an annual basis

  • Support planning and delivering for community events and webinars, including for annual Europeana events

  • Undertake some offline work on guidelines, blog posts, and other materials

  • Act as ambassadors for the Europeana Communicators Community, promoting its activities and communication channels, inviting new members, sharing and promoting the value of (digital) cultural heritage within and together with the Europeana Network Association

  • Consult the Community to identify topics of interest and raise awareness about potential activities supported or funded by Europeana Foundation

Why join?

Being a member of the Steering Group offers you benefits as well!

  • You will be part of a small but international group of digital cultural heritage professionals and/or enthusiasts.
  • Exchange of thoughts in this group is based on high trust and respect of each other and of cultural differences throughout Europe. Your voice counts, in the regular monthly online meetings and in further discussion via our online collaboration tool.
  • You will be able to play a role in defining and shaping our activities and communications.
  • You will be able to contribute to suggestions the group brings to the ENA Members Council, the Members Board, Europeana Foundation and the Aggregators’ Forum.
  • You will be able to serve some needs of community members, the Network, the wider cultural heritage sector and their audiences.

Tell us that you are interested!

To become a Steering Group member, you must be a Europeana Network Association Member and a Communicators Community member - find out more about signing up. If you are interested in the role, please email Community Managers georgia.evans@europeana.eu and ad.polle@europeana.eu telling us about your professional work and why you would like to become a Steering Group Member, up to 300 words. Please ensure that you read the Europeana Network Association Code of Conduct and are aware of the Community Terms of Reference.

The current Steering Group will review the profiles of those interested and make a final decision on inviting new members. If required, the current SG members may conduct interviews or anonymous vote to select new members from applications received.
