Claudia Porto
I am a museologist and public servant at the Chamber of Deputies, Brazil, currently working at the Chamber’s Museum after years in Digital Preservation. I teach New Media in the MBA Museums and Innovation Management program and consult on digital projects connecting collections and democracy. I researched how the Parliament's collections can promote democratic values, resulting in an action plan now being implemented. I pioneered Brazil’s first museum website, the first museum Edit-a-thon, managed MuseumWeek for Brazil, and contributed to the ICOM Strategic Plan Committee for two mandates.
MC candidate manifesto:
Museum, User Engagement, Open Data, Eduction, Digital Transformation
I'm passionate about the transformative power of museum collections in small communities and how digital technologies can enhance that impact. Europe-Latin America exchanges will foster digital skills, reuse, and partnerships. Interests: Innovative Operating Models WG and Data Quality Committee.
I plan to leverage my museum network, developed through MuseumWeek, ICOM, and the Brazilian Congress, to organize events aiming to promote Europeana, the common European data space, and highlight digital initiatives that use collections as tools for community engagement, civil rights and democracy.
