Liberty has been at the cutting edge of design and the decorative arts since 1875. The exhibition "Liberty in Fashion", held at Fashion and Textile Museum in London from the 9th October 2015 to the 28th February 2016, explores Liberty’s impact on British fashion, from Orientalism and Aesthetic dress in the 19th century, through Art Nouveau and Art Deco in the early 20th century, and the revival of these styles since the 1950s. Liberty Art Fabrics and the textile design studio take centre stage as the internationally recognised leader in floral, paisley and patterned prints and dress fabrics.
The globalization of fashion has given rise to new fashion cities that now annually host hundreds of fashion weeks around the world. The exhibition "Global Fashion Capitals", held at The Museum at FIT Fashion & Textile History Gallery from the 2nd June to 14th November 2015 explores, through over 70 objects, the history of the established fashion capitals and the emergence of 16 new fashion cities.
