AISTER will foster interdisciplinary synergies in computer science, cultural heritage and social sciences, stimulating innovation in teaching and learning methods within university settings. It will also enhance academia-policy cooperation in AI and human participation for EU-Ukrainian cultural heritage safeguarding in emergency.
In particular, AISTER will map and analyse current practices of AI and human participation for heritage at risk and establish an ethical framework that will be subsequently employed in real case studies in collaboration with academic and citizen communities. The project will deliver training materials for AI capacity building in cultural heritage, focusing on upskilling university staff. It will also develop guidelines for engaging students and citizens in the preservation of heritage at risk through AI-driven human participation.
The project will leverage the work of the ENA Working Group on preserving the cultural heritage of Ukraine as well as Europeana’s partnership with the European Students’ Association for Cultural Heritage (ESACH).
The project is funded under the Erasmus+ K2 programme of the European Union.
