3DBigDataSpace
3DBigDataSpace aims to increase high-quality 3D content in the common European data space for cultural heritage and establish Europe-wide, stable, long-term storage solutions for 3D models.
3DBigDataSpace aims to increase high-quality 3D content in the common European data space for cultural heritage and establish Europe-wide, stable, long-term storage solutions for 3D models.
The 3DBigDataSpace project aims to expand the collection of high-quality 3D models in the common European data space for cultural heritage by incorporating datasets from various providers and aggregators. To support this effort, the project will establish Europe-wide, stable, long-term storage solutions for 3D models and related data, including original models, sensor raw data, and 3D viewer derivatives.
In addition, the 3DBigDataSpace project will enhance the usability of 3D data by complementing existing aggregation efforts by Europeana and testing AI data enrichment technologies. These technologies aim to improve the findability, contextualisation and tailored reuse of 3D content. The project will also enable the extensive collection of 3D models to be used as an inventory for Virtual and Augmented Reality Viewers and 4D world applications.
To demonstrate the practical applications of the collected 3D content and technologies, the project will conduct demo cases within different fields such as museums, education, cultural tourism and urban heritage. These demo cases will showcase real-world applications of the project’s tools and data and will include:
The production and dissemination of two urban heritage demo cases from TMO’s Local Time Machines implementing tools and datasets by the 3DBigDataSpace project;
The creation of Edutainment resources for the Hunt Museum through the use of the project’s tools and datasets;
The enhancement and enrichment of cultural tourism related to European pilgrimage heritage from the rurAllure project through the development of location-based 3D and 4D experiences and the use of 3D data from the 3DBigDataSpace project.
Furthermore, the project will undertake capacity-building and outreach activities to empower a wide range of stakeholders to produce, re-use and share 3D cultural heritage content. These activities will include in person-events, open access educational resources and dissemination activities.
The project is funded under Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL) of the European Union.
