DTI brings together leading organisations from the archival, cultural heritage and technology sectors around a shared vision for the future of archives. As a founding member, announced during the DTI: Shaping the Archives of Tomorrow conference in Vienna on 2 September, the Europeana Foundation will contribute strategic expertise, support the alignment of DTI’s actions with European digitisation frameworks, bridge communities and institutions and connect Europeana’s extensive network with partners worldwide.
'As a sector, we need to articulate the role we want to play in the most decisive issues facing our society – ranging from ethical AI adoption to the fight against misinformation. Archives and cultural heritage institutions can play a meaningful role in these discussions. For this, we need to collaborate more closely and effectively. That’s why initiatives like DTI are crucial: they amplify and strengthen existing efforts, and accelerate innovation where it matters most,' said Harry Verwayen, General Director of the Europeana Foundation.
DTI supports digitisation, capacity building and knowledge exchange, tool and infrastructure development and collaborative strategy. Alongside the Europeana Foundation, members include ICARUS – International Centre for Archival Research, FamilySearch International, READ-COOP SCE, Archives Portal Europe (APE), International Council on Archives (ICA), Hill Museum & Manuscript Library (HMML), the British Library’s Endangered Archives Programme (EAP), the Time Machine Organisation (TMO) and the Internet Archive.
