About the webinars
With the Twin it! 3D for Europe’s culture campaign in full swing, we were proud to partner up with experts from the 4CH Competence Centre for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage to craft and deliver a series of webinars on 3D digitisation of cultural heritage which ran from October to November 2023.
The webinar series was specially designed to support colleagues in Member States involved in the Twin it! campaign: from experts in Ministries of Culture and their cultural heritage institutions to our network of aggregators. The series spanned the entire 3D digitisation process, offering participants valuable insights into the practical use of this technology as well as its potential for the benefit of the cultural heritage sector. The series delved into the main challenges associated with 3D digitisation, operational aspects as well as examples and best practices. It provided a useful and practical roadmap for Member States to plan and implement the 3D digitisation process foreseen within the Twin it! campaign.
Access the series
While the live webinar series was invite only, we are now pleased to make the whole series available for all colleagues across the cultural heritage sector to watch. You can access the webinar series and presentations, as well as relevant technical resources, through the Europeana Knowledge Base.

Working with the 4CH project
The 4CH Competence Centre for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage is a EU-funded project aiming to seamlessly work with a network of national, regional, and local cultural institutions, providing them with advice, support, and services focused on the preservation and conservation of historical monuments and sites.
As part of our ongoing cooperation with the 4CH in the framework of the Twin it! campaign, 4CH experts are also providing Member States with tailored support and technical advice regarding the 3D digitisation of the cultural heritage assets selected for the purpose of the campaign. If you are involved in the Twin it! campaign and you wish to benefit from the 4CH technical expertise on 3D capturing, modelling and visualisation, you can reach relevant colleagues at info3D@4ch.eu.
Expanding upon this work, we are committed to sustaining the fruitful collaboration with the 4CH in the framework of the Twin it! campaign and beyond. Drawing from the insightful conversations that unfolded during the webinar series and incorporating valuable feedback and contributions from participants, the 4CH is set to release quick and easy-to-use guidelines on 3D modelling. The guidelines will be inspired by the Basic principles and tips for 3D digitisation of cultural heritage developed in 2020 by the European Commission Expert Group on Digital Cultural Heritage and Europeana. We look forward to our continued partnership to further support our sector in building capacity for 3D, and, more broadly, to advance our mutual commitment to societal change via digital cultural heritage.
