Michael Peter Edson
Michael Peter Edson is a museum and library director, strategist, and innovator working at the intersection of tech, culture, and civil society.
Michael was the founding Director and Chief Museum Officer of the Museum of Solutions, Mumbai (MuSo), a new, state-of-the-art museum (and library, the Library of Solutions "LiSo") dedicated to inspiring and empowering young people to solve the world’s most pressing problems, today. MuSo was named to TIME Magazine's World's Greatest Places list in 2024.
Previously, Michael was the Director of Web and New Media Strategy for the Smithsonian Institution, the world’s largest museum and research complex based in Washington, DC; and the Co-founder of the Museum for the United Nations – UN Live in Copenhagen, a new civic-action institution envisioned to catalyze bottom-up effort towards the sustainable development goals in communities around the world.
Michael is Salzburg Global Fellow, a Fellow at the Getty Leadership Institute; a Presidential Distinguished Fellow emeritus at the Council for Libraries and Information Resources (USA); and a creator/contributor to numerous cultural initiatives around the world.
Michael is an O'Reilly Foo Camp alumni and he was named a "Tech Titan: person to watch" by Washingtonian magazine.
