We're currently working on bringing the API key functionality into the account section of the Europeana website. This means easier access and better management of your API key—all in one place!
What does this mean for you?
With your Europeana account, you'll have a dedicated section to request, view, and manage your API key. Plus, we're introducing the option to request a project key, giving you a higher request rate when your project needs increased access.
But that’s not all! Your account unlocks a range of exclusive features on the Europeana website — you can save your favourite items, create private galleries, and even submit public galleries for publication. You’ll also get to explore our new multilingual search feature, which helps you discover cultural heritage items in multiple languages and translate their descriptions (metadata) directly on the item page.
What happens until then?
We're aiming to roll out this new functionality on the Europeana website by the end of April. Until then you will be required to register for an Europeana account and confirm the registration before submitting a request using this form. For a step-by-step guide on creating your account, check out our help guide!
This form is temporary and will cease to exist when the functionality is available in the account section of the Europeana website.

Visit Europeana’s APIs page to get to know about the APIs and visit our documentation pages to learn how to use your key.
Please keep a safe record of your individual key and do not share it with third parties or expose it in user interfaces or in markup, as the key are confidential and are for use by yourself only.
If you want to ask questions or give us your feedback, we are available directly via the email api@europeana.eu.
