Europeana Education MOOC

An online course to teach educators and cultural heritage professionals about the educational potential of digital cultural heritage.

Introduction

Since 2018, the Europeana Foundation and European Schoolnet, in close collaboration with the Europeana Educators Ambassadors, have run the Europeana Education MOOC on an annual basis. The MOOC has trained more than 6,000 teachers with a potential impact on more than 72,000 students. The MOOC has previously been run in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Greek, Croatian and Romanian.

The MOOC teaches participants about the educational potential of digital cultural heritage and prepares them to implement it using digital technologies and innovative pedagogies, like CLIL or Project Based Learning. The course introduces the learning scenario methodology, shows you how to use it and how to build your own scenarios.

Learning objectives

  • Introduce participants to Europeana cultural content and help them understand how this can be integrated in their educational activities online and offline.

  • Introduce the Learning Scenario template and guide participants to its use.

  • Foster the employment of innovative pedagogical approaches, using arts and science digital heritage.

  • Facilitate open schooling experience by connecting museums and schools through educational activities based on Europeana resources.

Follow the MOOC

In our commitment to reach as many European language communities as possible, in 2024 the MOOC will be run in Dutch and Latvian. Discover full details, and how to subscribe, through the link below!
