The Europeana conference is a leading event in the world of digital cultural heritage and a flagship of the common European data space for cultural heritage. We are honoured that this year’s edition - Europeana 2025 - Preserve, Protect, Reuse - is taking place under the patronage of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU, in the vibrant Polish capital Warsaw. While you can access the conference online, to unlock all of the opportunities it has to offer, we encourage you to join us in Warsaw - read on to discover why!
1. Access workshops and training
One of the unique features of the Europeana conference is its open call for proposals, which results in a conference programme curated by and for the sector. This year is no exception, and we are delighted that Europeana 2025 will play host to a wide variety of in person, skill-building workshops given by experts from across the sector. Offering participants the chance to make new connections with fellow attendees and learn in a hands-on environment, the workshops cover a variety of engaging topics. Whether you want to discover how to use AI powered tools for inclusive cultural heritage, build your capacity when working with 3D heritage, learn how to measure impact, engage with your communities, ensure that links to digitised cultural heritage collections stay online, or build your skills with the Europeana Academy, there will be something for you!
2. Grow your network
Alongside the rich and informative programme, in person attendees at Europeana 2025 will have lots of chances to build your network and meet fellow attendees. From direct interaction with speakers, to a conference dinner, to informal coffees, to a silent disco, there will be numerous moments throughout the conference where you can chat with your peers, ask questions and share knowledge. Europeana 2025 will be a great place to look for new partnerships and opportunities on topics of interest.
3. Attend the conference Fair
The Europeana Initiative - composed of the Europeana Network Association, Europeana Aggregators’ Forum and Europeana Foundation - sits at the heart of the common European data space for cultural heritage. At Europeana 2025, you will be able to learn about the inspiring and crucial work of these three bodies through their representatives at a dedicated onsite Fair, which will also showcase the exciting EU-funded projects which Europeana is a part of across the digital heritage ecosystem. The Fair will be a great opportunity for in person attendees to network, explore the current projects landscape, find projects which have synergies with their own work and speak with experts. Find your next collaboration at the conference Fair!
4. Discover the award-winning POLIN Museum
Europeana 2025 is organised in collaboration and partnership with the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland, the National Institute of Cultural Heritage and the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw, who will host the conference. The POLIN Museum is located in the centre of Warsaw, in the historic district of Muranów, at the heart of a once thriving district inhabited mainly by Jews, and during the war made into a ghetto by the German authorities. Those attending in person will have free access to the museum and its historic and moving exhibitions for two days, and even get behind-the-scenes access to its collections through a tour organised for conference attendees.
5. Explore Warsaw’s heritage
Attending Europeana 2025 in person offers the opportunity to explore the history of the neighbourhood surrounding the POLIN Museum and of Warsaw as a whole. Conference participants will be able to take part in walking tours and cultural visits from the museum premises to discover the city’s rich heritage, innovative atmosphere and - with a visit to a Food Hall planned - culinary delights! The informal tours will also be a great way to meet fellow participants and build new connections.
