Invited speakers will introduce case studies from various perspectives involving communities’ data, its preservation, presentation and handling by institutions.
Together we will reflect on questions like:
- How can open data support the rights of minority communities?
- Are there situations in which openness or the FAIR principles might bring prejudice to minority communities?
- How can institutions work with communities for mutual benefit?
- What are possible solutions to balance openness with ethical access and use of data?
The cafe will include an open discussion and Q&A with attendees.
Confirmed speakers are (with more to come)
- Jonna Häkkilä (Nuohtti, ULapland)
- Eeva-Kristiina Nylander (Sámi Collection, MEK)
- Samuel (Sámmol) Valkeapää (Sámi duodji, design and digitalisation, Sámi University of Applied Sciences)
