Coming of age in the Digital Decade: A 17 year old software company and what it means to look ahead

In this keynote from Europeana 2021, George Oates explores the case of Flickr, as it reaches 17 years old. The talk is followed by a panel discussion on the topic of putting values at the heart of Europe's digital future.

About

The Flickr photo sharing service has grown to a massive collection of billions of images contributed by millions of people. This digital public space is currently looked after by a corporation. In this keynote, George Oates explores what we must do to address to ensure its long term survival? How do we organise ourselves to do that?

This keynote was preceded by one from Yvo Volman titled, Towards a common data space for cultural heritage, and followed by a panel discussion on the topic of putting values at the heart of Europe's digital future.
