You probably know what your institution is doing for digitisation. You might even know a bit about national policy in your country. But do you know what the picture is across the EU? The new European Commission report on Cultural Heritage: Digitisation, Online Accessibility and Digital Preservation confirms continued Member State support for Europeana and for common efforts on digital preservation.
In the summer of 2018, the Europeana Network Association established itself around six communities (Education, Impact, EuropeanaTech, Research, Copyright and Communicators). One of the first core actions was to develop an activity plan for 2019. The EuropeanaTech steering group hereby present the current form of the EuropeanaTech 2019 activity plan.
Speaking at Digital Day 2019 on 9 April, Harry Verwayen, Europeana Foundation Executive Director, said that the Digitising Cultural Heritage declaration was a 'sign of confidence' that the European Union sees the cultural heritage sector as of great social and economic relevance to Europe.
